Leo J. Walsh
President & C.E.O.
Leo Walsh is the President and C.E.O. of Hemalytic Inc, a research and data management entity incorporated in Canada specifically to cater to the needs of bleeding disorder community.
Prior to opening Hemalytic, Mr. Walsh had spent the bulk of his career building an industrial distribution business that specialized in high-performance filler metals. He began his own operation in 1997, after working for an affiliate of the nickel giant, Inco. It was in that capacity that he gained the technical expertise in metallurgy necessary for future success. During that period, he also graduated with honours with a C.I.M. designation in management and administration, which proved instrumental in achieving his entrepreneurial objectives.
He went into early retirement after several successful business ventures and now has plans to bring his administrative and entrepreneurial strengths to the bleeding order sphere through Hemalytic. By applying these disciplines with a few key statistical tools developed by dedicated researchers and HTC's, we can paint an honest portrait of the patient experience and further accelerate the research process.
Mr. Walsh has a deep personal connection with the ‘Hemophilia world’ as having been born with Christmas disease (Factor IX). At a time when the life expectancy was greatly shortened, Leo has felt fortunate to have been the benefactor of the advances in care introduced throughout his life. He is quoted as saying "it certainly has not been easy path and injuries as a child continue to impact me greatly as an adult. But I am still here and have managed to have lived a fulfilling and colourful life". "At some point, I felt compelled to give back to the system that supported me when I couldn't support myself, and I had to do it in the only way I know".
So now Mr. Walsh's focus is to guide Hemalytic towards developing patient solutions.
